About PhysioFit
PhysioFit was founded by dedicated
and experienced physical therapist,
Kim Gladfelter. Our primary mission is
the rehabilitation and promotion of
health and function for all patients. Our
approach to therapy utilizes scientific
principles to evaluate, assess, and
treat acute or chronic movement
dysfunction.
PhysioFit offers a combination of
manual therapy involving a hands-on
approach and individualized exercise
programs. Patients are taught how to
achieve optimal strength, flexibility, and
endurance. We believe that the most
important part of treatment is the
acquisition of knowledge to maintain a
lifetime of optimal health and function.
What makes us so unique?
- Your care is administered by an experienced, licensed
physical therapist - we do not have physical therapy
assistants
- 40 minutes of 1-on-1 treatment by your physical
therapist (full treatment lasts 60 to 75 minutes)
- Consistency of care with one physical therapist
- We have physical therapists certified in Pilates
exercise and trained in Pilates principles to integrate
into physical therapy
- State-of-the-art Pilates equipment
- Private Pilates, Pilates mat classes, and various other
programs are offered to help patients build on what
they learned during therapy
PhysioFit Staff
Kim Gladfelter
Owner, Physical Therapist and Pilates Instructor
Kim graduated from UCLA in 1991 with a degree in Kinesiology.
She received her Master of Physical Therapy degree in 1994 from
Mount Saint Marys College. She completed a 1-1/2 year long
residency program in Advanced Orthopedic Manual Therapy in
1998. Kim is board-certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist
(OCS). She also obtained a Certificate of Fellowship in the
American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists
(FAAOMPT). Both certifications (OCS and FAAOMPT) represent
recognition of advanced clinical proficiency in Orthopedic Physical
Therapy practice. In addition to taking numerous long and
short-term courses on various topics in Orthopedic Physical
Therapy, Kim was a teaching assistant for a very highly regarded
year-long course for manual physical therapists from 1999-2001.
She is a certified Practitioner in Pilates Rehabilitation, including
mat and equipment, through Polestar Education. Kim's hobbies
include jogging and dance. She is also the mother of two girls and
two boys.
Janet Petarra Perrino
Physical Therapist
Janet possesses a strong base of experience in orthopedic and
sports injury treatment. Janet received her undergraduate
degrees in Biology and Psychology from Miami University in 1989.
She earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Temple
University in 1995. After graduate school Janet worked for seven
years in Chicago with the Loyola University Medical Center
treating orthopedic, vestibular, lymphedema, burn, amputee, and
neurological disorders. Janet is especially interested in using
manual therapy to address orthopedic and sports-related issues.
Janet's hobbies include yoga, biking, and backpacking.
Amanda Hochfeld
Physical Therapist
Amanda began dancing when she was four. By age fifteen, she
was seeing a physical therapist for injuries attributed to the
stress that years of ballet, modern and jazz dance had put on
her body. This experience inspired Amanda’s career path, and in
2002 she earned her Bachelor of Kinesiology from San Francisco
State University, which was then followed by a Doctor of
Physical Therapy degree from Samuel Merritt College in 2007.
She completed her certification as a Stott Pilates Certified
instructor in 2010 and has integrated Pilates principles into
individual rehabilitation programs. Amanda likes looking at the
body as a whole and has a strong interest in wellness and
prevention. Outside her professional life, she enjoys Salsa
dancing, spending time with family and friends, caring for her
dog and a good game of Scrabble.
Rachel Peters
Pilates Instructor
Rachel grew up in the Bay Area and wanted to be a physical
therapist since her early years spent in gymnastics. She
received her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from
Stanford University in 1997 and her Master of Science in Physical
Therapy in 2000 from Columbia University in New York. Rachel is
a certified Practitioner in Pilates Rehabilitation, including mat and
equipment, through Polestar Education. She is currently working
equestrians who are looking to compete in national
competitions. Since graduate school, Rachel has been working in
the Bay Area, focusing in orthopedic and manual/sports therapy.
She is a member of both the American Physical Therapy
Association and the Pilates Method Alliance. Her personal
hobbies include jogging, dance, hiking and yoga.
Lori Watson
Pilates Instructor
Lori is a certified Pilates instructor trained through PhysicalMind,
a former physical therapy aide and fitness instructor. She
began Pilates in 1997 for relief of back pain due to an auto
accident and was able to relieve all of her pain and once again
become strong and fit. She is passionate about Pilates, which
shows in her teaching. Lori works with a variety of clients,
including pre/post natal and rehab. Her teaching style covers
the spectrum from slow, rehab-oriented to a more brisk fitness
pace, based on clients needs and goals.
Hao Le
Personal Trainer
Hao is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified
Personal Trainer. She has provided personal training services
corporate fitness centers such as Cisco, Apple, and Yahoo. Hao
loves to help people achieve their fitness goals through
personalized exercise programs appropriate to each
individual's specific needs. Her guidance ensures that clients’
strength, stamina, balance and flexibility are safely and
effectively enhanced in fun and challenging ways.
Jean Elvin
Feldenkrais® Instructor
Jean Elvin has been a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner
(CM) since 1997. She maintains a FELDENKRAIS® practice in
Palo Alto and teaches Awareness Through Movement® classes
for the public and for dancers. In addition to teaching at
PhysioFit, she also teaches at City College of San Francisco
and at Stanford University’s Health Improvement Program.
Jean has an educational and professional background in
dance, having both earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from
Arizona State University and performed professionally with
several companies in Chicago, Arizona, and California. She was
also the Director of Dance at Murray State University in
Kentucky, where she taught Movement for Actors and became
interested in Feldenkrais.






MaryAnn Brasesco
Registered Dietitian
MaryAnn has been a registered dietitian since 1985 when she
completed her clinical internship at Oregon Health Science
University in Portland, Oregon. Prior to that, she earned her
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition and Food Science from
Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo. MaryAnn is a dedicated
nutrition educator. She has worked for the Dairy Council of
California, and currently works for Oak Knoll Elementary School
as a nutrition educator and SportVelo Coaching as a sports
dietitian. She works with a variety of nutrition specialties
ranging from sports nutrition, weight loss, and hypertension,
to GI conditions and children’s nutrition. MaryAnn is an avid
cyclist, a board member of the Silicon Valley Bike Coalition, and
enjoys spending time with her husband and kids.

Renee Romano
Physical Therapist
Renee Romano earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in
Physical Therapy in 1989 from Long Beach State University and
her Master of Arts in East West Psychology in 2003 from
California Institute of Integral Studies. In addition to orthopedic
physical therapy, Renee has developed skills in myofascial
release, craniosacral therapy, and has special interest in the
mind-body connection. She has served as Assistant Director of
Clinical Services at Tender Loving Care in San Jose, and as the
Senior Therapist-Clinical Specialist, PT Team Leader for Inpatient
Rehabilitation and Center Coordinator for Clinical Education
(CCCE) in the Palo Alto VA Health Care System. Recently, in
2009, Renee has taken continuing education courses in
women's health physical therapy, focusing on pelvic floor issues
and urinary incontinence. Renee was born and raised locally in
Menlo Park. She is married, has two black Labrador Retrievers
and enjoys cycling, skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking and
campfires. Her favorite place is the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Rupa Chakravarty
Physical Therapist
Rupa Chakravarty has been practicing physical therapy in both
adult and pediatric fields since 1994. She began her physical
therapy career at the University of Bombay, India, where she
earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. After
practicing in Bombay, India, in both private practices and at the
B.J. Wadia Children’s Hospital, Rupa earned her Doctorate in
Physical Therapy at Des Moines University, Iowa. Since then she
has practiced physical therapy in Los Gatos and Sunnyvale in a
variety of settings, including neurological rehabilitation, which
she takes a special interest in. Rupa’s physical therapy
philosophy includes not just providing symptomatic relief, but
rather, holistically treating the root of patients’ diagnoses. In her
spare time, Rupa enjoys reading, painting, and working out at
the gym. She lives in Sunnyvale with her husband and infant son.

Christi Cerna
Pilates Instructor
Christi has been involved in the fitness industry since the early
1980's when she was teaching water exercise and aerobics
classes. She is a Comprehensive Certified Pilates Instructor
through Power Pilates. Christi previously taught mat and
equipment classes in the South Bay and at San Jose State
University. She is also a graduate of De Anza college’s Physical
Therapy Assisting program, as well as a certified massage
therapist through the National Holistic Institute. In her spare
time, she enjoys Pilates workouts in her garage gym and
walking & hiking with her bullmastiff.




Janet W. Johnson
Physical Therapist
Janet W. Johnson graduated with a degree in Human Biology
from Stanford University in 1977 and completed her master's
degree in Physical Therapy at Stanford in 1979. She has a wide
variety of experience, having worked in rehabilitation, hand
therapy, ergonomics, and orthopedics. She has taught classes
on caregiver training, back injury prevention, and repetitive
strain injury prevention. She has received training in myofascial
therapy, as well as in women's health issues, where her
treatment of pelvic pain. She believes in the importance of
patient education to help patients both understand their
current treatment and their role in preventing future injuries.
Hobbies include many outdoor activities, such as hiking, rowing,
and skiing. Indoors, she enjoys spending time with family and
friends, reading a good book, and creating gifts out of fabric
and yarn. She (along with her husband) has raised 3
daughters, one of whom has also become a physical therapist.
Michaela Andronic
Massage Therapist
Michaela is a certified massage therapist who has taken
extensive training in a variety of massage techniques, including
pressure point, Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu, and
sports massage. She has been performing massage therapy
since 1994 and has many loyal clients in the Bay Area. Michaela
is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and
is passionate about the work that she does.

Lori Seymour
GYROTONIC®/Pilates Instructor-Teacher Trainer
Lori came to Pilates to rehabilitate a chronic hip injury as a
young dancer and swimmer. She obtained her first Pilates
certification through the Physical Mind Institute in 1999 and has
focused her continuing Pilates education in the areas of gait,
scoliosis, osteoporosis, and golf. She also works with various
joint and spinal issues. In 2009, Lori finished an apprentice
period with a master trainer named Kathy Corey and is
currently a certifying instructor for Kathy Corey Pilates (used to
be West Coast Pilates). Lori found GYROTONIC® in 2000 and
fell in love. Since then she has been certified in all aspects of
GYROTONIC®, levels 1 and 2, as well as a certified pre-trainer.

Geeta Nasika
Physical Therapist
Geeta Nasika graduated with Bachelor of Physical Therapy
degree from NTR University of Health Sciences, India in 2005.
She is a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist. She offers
a comprehensive approach to physical therapy practice that
combines manual therapy, joint mobility, soft tissue
mobilization, myofascial release and patient participation, which
includes therapeutic exercises, home exercises programs,
patient education on ergonomic set-up, proper body
mechanics, relaxation technique, and pain management. Her
special interests include repetitive stress injuries, orthopedics,
neurological dysfunctions, post-operative cases and chronic
pain management. She is fluent in Hindi and Telugu languages.
Her hobbies include crocheting, hiking, playing outdoor games
and travelling.
